| Description |
English: As trumpeted by Hackney Council in its free propaganda sheet.....cleaning up the Lea to improve water quality by removing shopping trolleys etc. Actually the main problem which they mention, but which is not cured by this measure, is the huge number of illegally connected waste pipes in the N16 N15 and upper e5 areas. According to this blog there are 30,000 wrongly connected households. The reason for this dredging I guess is that the athletes and the specators at the 2012 olympics do not want the smell of jobby to permeate the stadium --- as evidenced by a walk along the Lea opposite Spitalfields market. The problem will not go away and nobody is willing to tackle it. So hold your nose in 2012. And don't hold your breath that the problem of wrongly or illegally connected waste will be tackled. |
