Le sanctuaire shinto Heian-Jingu est une reproduction au 5/8 en longueur du palais de l'Empereur à l'époque Heian. Il est dédié aux Empereurs Kammu et Kômei. Il a été construit au centre de Kyoto en 1895 à l'occasion du 1100ème anniversaire de la création de la ville et reconstruit en 1976 à la suite d'un incendie. Le sanctuaire est entouré de jardins de style de l'ère Meiji conçus par le jardinier Jihei Ogawa.
