Description

Le quartier Asakusa au moment du Sanja Matsuri, rituel shintoïste au cours duquel des chasses (mikoshi) sont portées autour du temple bouddhiste Sensoji par des yakusas en tenue fundoshi (sous-vêtements de sumo) ou par d'autres groupes sociaux

Le temple Sensoji, avec sa pagode à cinq étages (à gauche du temple) est consacré à Kannon, le Bodhisattva de la Compassion. Fondé en 628, c'est le temple le plus ancien de Tokyo ; détruit lors des bombardements de Tokyo, il a été reconstruit en 1958.

On accède au temple par la porte Kaminarimon au premier plan en bas sur la photo puis par la rue Nakamise.
