Description

En 1786, le sieur Rousseau, horloger au 95 galerie de Beaujolais, dans le Palais Royal, indiquait midi aux promeneurs en tirant le canon installé sur la ligne méridienne de Paris.

En 1799, le petit canon est placé au milieu du jardin. Il sera utilisé jusqu'en 1914 pour indiquer midi.

En 1990, il a été remis en fonctionnement jusqu'en 1998 où il a été volé. Une copie est à nouveau visible dans les jardins.
