Frise chronologique des principaux édifices construits dans les Emirats Arabes Unis de 1914 à 2014 (détail) Lest we forget : structures of memory in the united arab emirates Sous la ligne de temps, ont été inscrits de grands évènements mondiaux. Les grands édifices construits dans les Emirats sont illustrés sous la frise avec des plans et des photos. Ils ne sont pas à l'échelle car le Burj Khalifa devrait être deux fois plus grand que sur ce dessin. L'exposition révèle la recherche par les architectes d'une identité des Emirats à travers des références à l'architecture vernaculaire mais c'est l'architecture internationale qui domine de plus en plus l'espace urbain surtout depuis une trentaine d'années A titre d'exemple, la Burj Khalifa est devenue en mai 2008 la plus haute structure humaine jamais construite. Sa hauteur finale, atteinte le 17 janvier 2009, est de 828 mètres. Elle sera dépassée par la Kingdom Tower qui est en construction en Arabie Saoudite et qui doit atteindre 1000 m. |
