Description

Le Patio du Dar Hussein donnant accès aux bureaux de l'Institut national du patrimoine Medina de Tunis On remarque un portrait du Président Ben Ali au-dessus de la porte de gauche car la photo a été prise en 2003


Les colonnes et les dalles du patio sont en marbre blanc, les chapiteaux des colonnes sont de style néo-corinthien, au mur se trouvent des panneaux en céramique de Kallaline, d'inspiration ottomane, des stucs très ouvragés décorent les parties hautes du patio.

Le Dar Hussein abrite aujourd'hui l'institut national du patrimoine tunisien. Occupant l'emplacement du palais des beni Khorassen (11ème siècle), le Dar Hussein a été reconstruit par Ismaïl Kahia au 18ème siècle. En 1858, il a été le siège du conseil municipal, puis habité par le général Hussein. En 1882, dans le cadre du Protectorat, il a été occupé par le général Forgemol, commandant des troupes françaisesd'occupation. La Médina de Tunis a été classée au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO.
