L'entrée de la maison "Giardino Eden" (le jardin d'Eden) Cette propriété est composée d'une maison principale et de deux maisons secondaires situées sur un vaste terrain donnant au sud sur la lagune de Venise et dont l'entrée se trouve 138 Rio della Croce. Elle est située sur l'île de la Giudecca, près de l'église du Rédempteur et de la prison aujourd'hui désaffectée dont elle est mitoyenne. Elle a été achetée par un couple d'aristocrates anglais : Sir Frederic Eden (1828-1916) et son épouse Caroline (1837-1928) en 1884 qui l'a mise en valeur en créant un jardin devenu célèbre et dont F. Eden a raconté l'histoire dans un ouvrage publié en 1903. En 1928, à la mort de son épouse Caroline, la propriété a changé plusieurs fois de propriétaire. Le dernier d'entre eux a été le peintre autrichien Hundertwasser qui l'a occupée à partir de 1979 jusqu'à sa mort en 2000. Aujourd'hui elle appartient à la fondation Hundertwasser mais il n'est pas possible de la visiter. voir un album de J.P.
