Presentemente esso è delizioso,ma quale deve essere stato prima che i monotoni ter-razzi dei vigneti e gìinterminabili filari di viti pren-dessero il posto delle antiche foreste di castagni, dibetulle e di faggi, ed i pittoreschi « chàlets » svizzericedessero il campo alle biancheggianti ville e aglialberghi giganteschi ! Morlot richiamò per il primo lattenzione sullesi-stenza dun salto ad ovest di Vevey. Esso comincia aGonelles, proprio ad ovest della città, e si dirige aChàtel S. Denis, seguendo per qualche tratto lalta rivadella Veveyse. Il cono della Tinière è degno di particolare interesseper il tentativo fatto da Morlot di calcolare approssi-mativamente la data dellultima Età della Pietra, nellaSvizzera. Egli stimò per lEtà del Bronzo unantichitàdai 2900 ai 4200 anni, per quella del Neolitico dai 4700ai 7000 anni, e per lintero cono dai 7400 agli 11.000 anni. (*) Renevier, Acid. Pres. Soc.
