Français : Le 'Tricycle monstre' (1897) , ou 'Monster Tricycle', qui circula dans les rues de New York et de Boston en 1897, actionné par 8 hommes. Largeur 5m10, poids une tonne. Roue avant de 1m80 de diamètre et arrières de 3m30. Les deux pneumatiques arrières ont un diamètre de 0.45m. Les rayons des grandes roues en acier ont un diamètre de 12cm. Chaque roue motrice est actionnée par quatre hommes. Deux charpentes en treillis disposées parallèlement côte à côte constituent le cadre, en acier également. Elles viennent aboutir à la direction à laquelle est rattaché le guidon.
L'engin servit surtout à accompagner la première campagne électorale du Président Mac-Kinley. |
