Description

Vue sur le complexe royal (enclos du zenana et étables des éléphants) depuis le Mahavanami Dibba

Le Mahavanami Dibba est situé au sud de l'enceinte du complexe royal qui comprenait 43 bâtiments. De structure carrée à trois niveaux, il était surmonté d'un pavillon à plusieurs étages qui a disparu. Il possède deux escaliers d'accès.

Sa construction a commencé au XIVè siècle, il a ensuite été embelli jusqu'à la destruction de Vijayanagar par les armées musulmanes.

Il est orné de frises de bas-reliefs représentant des danseuses et des musiciens, des défilés d'éléphants, des scènes de chasse, de visites de notables étrangers...
