Description

"Le Bûcheron et l'Arbre de liberté (Fable)
Un vieux bûcheron nommé Odilon avait pris en grippe un arbre planté devant sa fenêtre. C'était un peuplier du mois de Février. Cet arbre rappelait de cruels souvenirs au pauvre Odilon.
Il envoya chercher son compère Faucher qui, lui aussi, détestait les peupliers, et tous les deux résolurent d'en finir avec ces maudits arbres. Comme tous les deux avaient des amis dans le gouvernement, ils obtinrent qu'on déracinerait tous les peupliers, sous prétexte qu'ils étaient morts et que leurs branches serviraient à chauffer les familles pauvres pendant l'hiver.
Odilon, au comble de ses vœux, voulut mettre lui-même la main à l'œuvre. Or il arriva que le peuplier qu'il avait scié l'écrasa dans sa chute.

Ceci prouve qu'il ne faut pas toucher aux arbres plantés par le peuple."
