Français : Le Bodhisattva Maitreya, (Maitreya est le Bouddha du futur). Schiste. Gandhara, Nord-ouest du Pakistan. Période Kushan, 100-400 après notre ère. Les Bodhisattva du Gandhara (région de Peshawar) portent habituellement des vêtements princiers et des bijoux. Maitreya a ici les signes du Bouddha. La sculpture du Gandhara est dans un style influencé par l'art greco-romain, introduit lors des conquêtes d'Alexandre le Grand.
