[edit]DescriptionLaunch of LST-301 at the Boston Navy Yard in 1942.jpg | Luch of the first tank landing ship, LST-301, at the Boston Naval Shipyard, Massachusetts (USA), on 15 September 1942. LST-301 never saw active service with the U.S. Navy as it was transferred to the United Kingdom under the terms of the Lend-lease Act. It was commissioned as HM LST-301 on 14 November 1942 and it took part in the landings on Sicily, at Salerno and in Normandy. LST-301 was finally returned to the U.S. Navy on 20 March 1946. | |||
