Title
Late medieval gold posy ring
Description
English: A gold medieval posy ring, inscribed on the exterior + EN BON ANNE ('in a good year'). The ring is decorated with sprig of foliage between each letter. Each spring is the same, comprising a long stem with six slender and pointed leaves (three on either side), terminating with a dome-shaped head. The sentiment expressed in the inscription occurs frequently on late medieval finger rings and is often considered to be associated with New Year's gifts.
