Late medieval early post-medieval vessel spout (top, profile, bottom)
Description
English: Cast copper-alloy dog's head vessel spout. Medieval, c15th century. The spout is hollow with a sub-triangular cross section where it would have been attached to the vessel. From the triangular sectioned end, the spout rises and tapers to a moulded dog's head gripping a cylinder in its mouth. There is a grooved ridge on the top of the head. Mass: 78.2g; width: 70mm; length: 69mm; internal diameter of the end of the spout: 6mm. There is a small hole in the side of the spout which may be recent damage.
