Summary

[edit]
Description
English: object type / vase shape: attic red figure plate

- description obverse: dancing satyr with kantharos and oinochoe; inscription: ΚΑΛΟΣ ΗΟ ΠΑΙΣ ΚΑΛΟΣ - production place: Athens - painter: undetermined - shape and decoration system are identical with the 5 plates in the Villa Giulia, so that all may come from the same pottery workshop. The style of drawing suggests the same period as the Villa Giulia plates, but the anatomical drawing of the satyr is too different from the satyr on one of the Villa Giulia plates to be by the same painter - period / date: late archaic, ca. 490-480 BC - material: pottery (clay) - findspot: unknown (confiscated) - museum / inventory number: Roma, Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio per l'area metropolitana di Roma, la provincia di Viterbo e l'Etruria meridionale - special exhibition „Massimo Campigli e gli Etruschi. Una pagana felicità“, May 2021 - January 2022, Venezia, Palazzo Franchetti
