Title
Late Upper Paeleolithic flake
Description
English: Later Upper Palaeolithic flake (15,000-8,300 BC). The flake surface shows evidence cortex reforming giving an indication of the age of the flake, it is also patinated from light grey to white reflecting the deposition chalk downland.

On the dorsal surface (upper face) there are signs of platform preparation and previous flake removals and the distal end (tip) of the flake has been removed. There is some natural cortex at the proximal end (butt) of the dorsal surface and along the right edge. The bulb of percussion can be seen on the ventral surface (lower face). There is some use wear and possible retouch on the left edge of the dorsal face at the proximal end and on the right edge of the ventral face at the distal end. Weight: 72g, Length: 79.50mm, Width: 49.63mm, Thickness: 15.79mm.

These flints form part of a large collection of lithic implements and associated waste flakes from several concentrations on the Seven Sisters; see SUSS-80DBC3.
