Title |
Late Upper Paeleolithic flake |
||
Description |
English: Later Upper Palaeolithic flake (15,000-8,300 BC). The flake surface shows evidence cortex reforming giving an indication of the age of the flake, it is also patinated from light grey to white reflecting the deposition chalk downland. On the dorsal surface (upper face) there are signs of platform preparation and the right edge shows signs of retouch at the distal end to form a projecting point. The bulb of percussion can be seen on the ventral surface (lower face) and the distal end (tip) terminates with a hinge fracture. Weight: 8.68g, Length: 52.89mm, Width: 29.91mm, Thickness: 6.60mm.
These flints form part of a large collection of lithic implements and associated waste flakes from several concentrations on the Seven Sisters; see SUSS-80DBC3. |
