Description |
English: Incomplete Late Saxon buckle frame, comprising a heart-shaped loop with a stylised animal-head knop and remains of an integrally-cast split trapezoidal plate with perforation for (missing) pin between a chevron-like arrangement of two incised oblique rocker-arm lines on surviving part of face. Much of the outer edge of the front part of the plate is missing, the surviving back-part is pierced by a rivet-hole near the outer edge. 43 x 19mm. Cf. Biddle (1990), fig.129, no.1106 and Wilson (1964) no.49. 10th-11th century; also compare BERK-0F1D48, LVPL-A40683, HAMP-C9AB76 and SUSS-A7C147. |
