Title
Late Medieval to Post Medieval rectangular double loop buckle fragment
Description
English: Late Medieval or early Post Medieval cast copper alloy buckle. One loop from a double rectangular looped decorative strap buckle. There is a worn break to each side of the pin bar where the second loop would have been integrally cast. The loop is rectangular in cross section. The upper surface is engraved with double oblique lines. The lower surface is worn with a series of scratches, probably from post depositional activity. The buckle has an even mid green patina, with a small trace of tinning surviving. This buckle dates from circa 1450 to 1600 AD. The surviving section of the buckle is 24.11mm long, 43.13mm wide and 2.1mm thick.
