Title |
Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval Purse Frame |
||
Description |
English: Late Medieval or early Post-Medieval purse frame fragment. Cast in copper alloy, the frame is decorated with a double incised hatched line design, with a significant amount of the niello inlay remaining. The frame is 'V' shaped in cross section, measuring 7.49mm wide and 5.39mm thick, the surviving section measures 67.4mm in length. There are three rivet holes on inner edge, two at one end, the other two thirds along the remaining fragment. The frame has a mid to dark green patina and there are worn breaks at both ends of the fragment but, other than this, the fragment is in relatively good condition with little wear. |
