late Medieval or early Post Medieval Single Loop Buckle
Description
English: An incomplete late Medieval or early Post Medieval cast copper-alloy single loop buckle, c. 1450-1550 AD. The remains of the buckle consist of a complete buckle frame, D-shaped in plan, with moulded transverse lines on the outer edge creating a rudimentary ropework type decoration. The strap bar is narrowed and offset slightly from the rest of the frame. The reverse surface is flat and undecorated; it is possible to see filing marks on the surface. Cf. Whitehead 2003, p. 25, No. 122.
