Italiano: Coinvolta nella lotta di potere tra Settimio Severo e Pescennio Nigro, la città di Laodicea fu ricostruita da Settimio Severo nel 194 d.C. ed elevata al grado di metropoli, tolto ad Antiochia che aveva parteggiato per Pescennio Nigro. Fu inoltre concesso lo ius italicum ai suoi cittadini come ulteriore riconoscimento per la fedeltà dimostrata. Ben poco resta oggi della città antica: il monumento più notevole è l'arco a quattro fronti, eretto probabilmente proprio intorno al 194 d.C. durante il rifacimento della città; un altra ipotesi attribuisce l'arco a L.Vero il quale, durante le campagne partiche, aveva soggiornato per quattro inverni nella città.
