Summary

[edit]
Description It continues to burn, over 100,000 acres by today -- the biggest fire in recorded NM history. Most of the action is on the north side, over the horizon from here, but you can see it still burning down the south flank of the Jemez mountains. The smoke to the right is in or near Bandelier National Monument. Los Alamos and White Rock continue to be protected and firefighters have some confidence that they can keep the fire away from these towns. Los Alamos is still evacuated. To the north, the fire burns on the Santa Clara Reservation, affecting some of the tribe's sacred areas.
