Summary
[edit]DescriptionLarge White Butterfly (Pieris brassicae) - geograph.org.uk - 1440726.jpg |
English: Large White Butterfly (Pieris brassicae). The Large White can be found in a wide variety of habitats including gardens, allotments, parks, meadows, open grassland and hedgerows. For a wider view of this particular location see > 1440718. It is one of the most widespread species in Great Britain. It is known to migrate to the British Isles from the continent, augmenting the resident population in the process. The Large White causes problems for vegetable gardeners and allotment holders all over the British Isles in that the larva of this species can decimate cabbages to mere skeletons of their former selves. |
