Description

"Témoins d’un lieu habité, le lit de Bourdelle ainsi que le mobilier, disposés par le sculpteur lui-même, contribuent à insuffler à cet appartement un parfum d’intimité. La décoration raffinée de certains éléments – le vantail de la porte latérale, le linteau de l’autre, le miroir composite – répond à la rusticité du poêle ou de la cheminée. La collection de Bourdelle fait écho à celle de l’atelier : un Christ en croix, un chapiteau médiéval, des toiles d’après les maîtres – Titien, Prud’hon ou « à la manière de» Rembrandt – mais aussi et surtout l’unique moulage de l’un des deux David de la cathédrale de Reims, dont le pendant est également conservé au musée, et que Bourdelle, sauva peu avant 1910 alors que la Première guerre mondiale allait gravement endommager l’édifice champenois. Enfin, des œuvres diverses, peintes ou sculptées, évoquent l’environnement familial du sculpteur, Pierre, le fils de Bourdelle, Cléopâtre, muse et seconde épouse du sculpteur, et leur fille Rhodia"(extrait du site officiel)
