Português: Lapa do Santo - Sepultamento 09 - Foto de campo durante escavação do sepultamento. A Lapa do Santo é um sítio arqueológico localizado na região de Lagoa Santa em Minas Gerais. Apresenta um rico registro da cultura material dos grupos que habitaram o Brasil central durante Holoceno Inicial, Médio e Final. Dezenas de sepultamentos humanos foram encontrados na Lapa do Santo. Nessa imagem é possível visualizar os momentos iniciais da escavação desse sepultamento com o aparecimento gradual do crânio da criança em julho de 2002. Esse sepultamento é composto por um único indivíduo subadulto do qual estavam presentes o crânio, a mandíbula, poucos fragmentos de costelas e partes da bacia. O neurocrânio foi encontrado repousando sobre seu lado esquerdo , com a face ligeiramente inclinada para baixo e voltada para o norte. O neurocrânio estava completamente preenchido por sedimento. Os demais ossos estavam próximos ao neurocrânio. Os ossos da bacia, o temporal e a mandíbula estavam unidos por concreção. Ainda que apenas o neurocrânio tenha se preservado integralmente, os ossos do maxilar, os da base do crânio, e a mandíbula também estavam presentes. Os alvéolos da mandíbula e do maxilar estavam vazios, com exceção dos primeiros molares permanentes e de alguns germes de dentes permanentes. |
