Português: Lapa do Santo. Estudo da morfologia craniana foi utilizada por décadas para fazer inferências paleogenéticas sobre ancestralidade. Desde o século XIX existe o debate se a morfologia dos crânios dos grupos que habitaram a região de Lagoa Santa era semelhante ou diferente da morfologia dos crânios dos nativos americanos do período colonial. Para aqueles que defendiam a tese de uma diferença profunda essa dissimilaridade morfológica refletiria a chegada no continente de uma população que não seria ancestral dos nativos atuais. De uma forma ou de outra os estudos morfológicos avançaram muito nos últimos anos. Atualmente, ao invés de usar réguas e paquímetros as análises são todas feitas em ambiente tri-dimensional. Esse video mostra o exemplo de um protocolo de 'landmarks' aplicado ao crânio humano. Esse tipo de dado é usado na chamada 'morfometria geométrica' e permite a compração detalhada de diferenças morfológicas. |
