Description
English: The Langton Matravers Hoard was a hoard of 276 complete socketed axes, 107 halves of socketed axes and 117 fragments of socketed axes, dating from the end of the Bronze Age. It was one of the largest hoards ever discovered in Britain and the largest-ever socketed axe hoard. It was unearthed near the Dorset village of Langton Matravers in 2007. It was purchased by the Dorset County Museum, Dorchester, where this photograph was taken.
