Description
Landscape with a Country House’ by John Gendall, about 1840-1860. This watercolour and gouache on paper depicts a country house, shrouded by trees. There is a formal lawn surrounding the house, and a number of female figures dressed in white can be seen. John Gendall (1790-1865) was a British artist who has become increasingly associated with his paintings of Devon.
