Description

58 days after leaving Marseille, France, we climbed down a cargo net into this Higgins boat and landed at Naha, Okinawa. We made the long journey aboard the General Butner which held 5,000. I remember how happy were to see the last of the crowded troop carrier. During the trip the atom bomb was dropped and Japan surrendered. Some Japanese were in caves and still fighting while we were there.

I found recently this faded, folded 5x7 print in an envelope.
