English: The former Cas Abao plantation was located south of the southern road to Westpunt (northern border), between the Porto Marie (east) and San Juan (west) plantations. Cas Abao was previously known as Engelenberg and the name Giftenberg may also have been used. The date of the plantation's foundation is unknown. The first deed of sale dates from 1719. Mathijs Brugman bought the Engelenberg plantation from Benjamin de Casseres on August 25 of that year.
It is not entirely clear when the name change took place, but most likely in the mid-nineteenth century. In the deed of sale from 1838, the plantation is still called Engelenberg, but in the paga tera agreements from 1864 the name Cas Abao is used.
Nederlands: De voormalige plantage Cas Abao was gelegen ten zuiden van de zuidelijke weg naar Westpunt (noordgrens), tussen de plantages Porto Marie (ten oosten) en San Juan (ten westen) in. Cas Abao stond vroeger bekend onder de naam Engelenberg en mogelijk werd ook de naam Giftenberg gebruikt. De stichtingsdatum van de plantage is onbekend. De eerste verkoopakte dateert uit 1719. Mathijs Brugman koopt op 25 augustus van dat jaar de plantage Engelenberg van Benjamin de Casseres.
Het is niet geheel duidelijk wanneer de naamsverandering heeft plaatsgevonden, maar hoogstwaarschijnlijk in het midden van de negentiende eeuw. Bij de verkoopakte uit 1838 heet de plantage nog Engelenberg maar bij de paga tera overeenkomsten uit 1864 wordt de naam Cas Abao gebruikt.
