| Description |
Deutsch: Die Ursprünge der stauferzeitlichen Burg (erbaut mit sog. Buckelquadern) gehen uns 11. Jh. zurück. Der Bergfried, „Langhans“ genannt und der als Aussichtsturm bestiegen werden kann, und die innere Ringmauer stammen aus dem 13. Jh.
Die Burg wurde u.a. bei den Bauernaufständen (16.Jh.) und im Pfälzischen Erbfolgekrieg (17. Jh.) mehrfach belagert und zerstört. Nach dieser wechselhaften Geschichte und verschiedenen Besitzern, wurde sie von dem Fabrikanten Robert Vollmüller renoviert, Besitzer der Burg ab 1898. 1960 wurde das Burggelände schließlich von der Stadt Beilstein erworben. Heute befindet sich auf dem Gelände eine Burgfalknerei mit Flugvorführungen und eine Burggaststätte. |
