Die Burg Limpurg wurde um 1230 vor den Toren der Stadt Hall errichtet und diente den Schenken als neuer Sitz nachdem sie 1235 Ihre Burgen Schüpf und Schenkenberg als Schadensersatz im Konflikt zwischen Kaiser Friedrich II. und seinem Sohn König Heinrich VII. an Gottfried von Hohenlohe verloren hatten. |
