Deutsch: Das Gebäude wurde um 1800 von Franz Anton Gross als Gasthaus und Bierbrauerei erbaut und eingerichtet. Heute Privatwohnhaus.
In diesem Haus wurde am 26.7.1819 Jacob Gross einer der besten Pianobauer Amerikas geboren. Gross lernte sein Handwerk in Schwäbisch Gmünd und wanderte um 1849 nach Troy ( New York ) aus. Dort baute er mit seinem Partner Hulskamp seine eigenen Pianos. Später holte Ihn Ch. M. Stieff, ein gebürtiger Steinheimer der in Stuttgart im Waisenhaus aufgewachsen war, in seine Pianofabrik nach Baltimore. 1878 erhielt Jacob Gross bei der Universal Expo in Paris eine Silbermedaille für eine Neuerung im Klavierbau. Sein Enkel Robert Edward Gross (1905 - 1988) war ein Ponier der Herzchirugie bei Kindern sowie in der modernen Gefäßchirugie. 1959 erhielt er den belgischen Leopold- Orden für die Operation des Prinzen Alexandre den Sohn des belgischen Königs Leopold III. |
