Full caption reads as follows: Landaff, Grafton County, New Hampshire. The choir, like the congregation itself, is small and unvarying. These 5 girls are rarely assisted by other children, and boys never take part. Very simple unimpressive hymns are sung, in unison or in two parts. These are children of non-farm families, which is a fact of considerable significance; for the farm families, as a group, have almost no children as young as these. (English)
