English: Land Girls placing chickens into cages as part of the 'Off the Ration' exhibition at Charing Cross underground station in London during 1942. Land Girls M Slingsby and A Chesterton place chickens into cages as part of the 'Off the Ration' exhibition at Charing Cross underground station. The sub-title of the exhibition was 'Grow More Food and Save Ships'. Live pigs also featured in this exhibition, which aimed to encourage people to grow their own fruit and vegetables and explained how to keep pigs, hens and rabbits for food. |
