Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Lancaster Canal, Larkrigg The remains of the Lancaster Canal can be clearly seen looking south from Larkrigg Hall bridge. In common with many of the nation's narrow canals, commercial traffic ceased in the 1940s; sadly, however, this northern section leading up to Kendal was severed by the M6 and was never able to enjoy the modern boom in leisure boating. This is a great shame because this would undoubtedly be a popular waterway passing through attractive countryside. Plans do exist to restore the canal, although this would be no easy task.
