Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Lancaster Bomber over Lincoln Cathedral The last remaining Lancaster Bomber 'PA474' flying low over Lincoln Cathedral. Over 3,700 of these aircraft were built at Woodford in Cheshire. This aircraft delivered over 600,000 tons of bombs in 156,000 sorties in the second world war. They primarily operated during night time raids and also in many other roles including daylight precision bombing. The Lancaster was famous as the "Dam Buster" used in the 1943 - a real head turner when flying overhead - the throaty roar of the engines alone brings tears to my eyes.
