Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Lakshminarayana Temple is located in a tiny village called Hosaholalu, three km towards the east of Krishnarajapet, which is around 60 km from Mysore. This beautiful Hoysala temple is similar to the temples of Somanathapur, Nuggehalli, Javagal and is known for its elaborate sculptural work. This temple is a Trikutachala (3 shrined temple) and faces East. The temple complex houses Sri.Lakshmi Narayana facing East, Sri.Venu Gopala Swamy facing North and Sri.Lakshmi Narasimha facing South direction. The outer walls of the temple are richly ornamented with the friezes of elephants, horses, scrolls, scenes from epics, capricorns, swans and a number of gods and goddesses with their attendants. The scenes from the epics depict stories from Ramayana, Mahabharata and Bhagavata. Though the date of construction is unknown, historians place the temple to the middle of the 13th century, taking into consideration the style of architecture.
