Summary

[edit]
Description

This is a Lake Champlain & Moriah Railroad caboose on display at Port Henry in the eastern Adirondacks of northeastern New York State, USA. It was built in 1946 from an ore car previously used by the same railroad.

The Lake Champlain & Moriah Railroad hauled iron ore from the Minesville-Port Henry Mining District. The mining target was magnetite-rich bodies within Precambrian-aged gneisses.
