Description
English: Live on the 19 of July, 2011. The Danube at Budapest. Lajta Monitor, the only remained Danube warship of the Austro-Hungarian Navy. The Austro-Hungarian Monarchy lanched this warship on May, 1871 at Budapest. The Monitor participated in the battles between the Monarchy and the Ottoman Empire in the 1870’s. Following the full scale reconstruction in the 1880’s, Lajta Monitor played az important role in the first world war. In 1919 the warship – being the the flagship of the Danube river fleet - participated in the second occupation of Belgrade, in the battles against romanian troops and in the opposition to the communist takeover..
Magyar: A felvétel 2011. Július 19 –én készült. Az Osztrák-Magyar Haditengerészet egyetlen megmaradt dunai hadihajója. Az Osztrák-Magyar Monarchia 1871. májusában bocsátotta vízre Budapesten. A monitor részt vett a Monarchia és az Ottoman Birodalom csatáiban az 1870-es években. Teljes körű felújítását követően az 1880 –as években jelentős szerepet játszott az első világháború harcaiban. 1919 –ben a hadihajó – mint a Monarchia folyami flottájának zászlóshajója harcolt Belgrád második megszállása során, a román csapatokkal szembeni harcokban majd a magyarországi kommunista puccsal szembeni ellenállásban.
