Summary
[edit]DescriptionLairg station - geograph.org.uk - 1155619.jpg |
English: Lairg station A view of Lairg station way back in March 1980. The train I was on is the first departure of the day from Inverness to Wick/Thurso, it is comprised of mk 1 vacuum braked coaching stock and is being hauled by 26043. It is passing the first southbound departure from Wick/Thurso which is hauled by 26042. The ticket I was using on this occasion was a free Penzance to Thurso return, courtesy of a young person railcard, the offer had something to do with Persil as I remember, the loco that worked the Thurso portion of the train from Georgemass Junction was 26021. Unfortunately the trains that work the far North line these days are appalling class 158 DMUs. During the trip I had haulage from locos from classes 26, 45, 46, 50, 55, 86/0 and a run behind 87029 from Euston to Glasgow Central. |
