| Description | The biggest threat facing the Old Bond Hill Historic District is abandonment and neglect. This late 19th Century home, one of the earliest to be built in the neighborhood during the time in which it was a railroad suburb, falls into the latter category, as, though it appears to be occupied and in habitable condition, it is suffering from many issues. These include erosion of the old bricks on the facade next to the door, improper replacement of double-hung two-over-two windows on the second floor with one-over-one vinyl replacements, and an overall and clear ignorance of the local historic preservation district's guidelines. Many such homes in the historic district are in a state like this one, which does put them in future danger as the landlords, whom don't care about the guidelines or the ineffective historic protections the area is under neglect and improperly treat the buildings in Old Bond Hill. |
