Text Appearing After Image: CALABASH OR PIPE GOURD. 2S9 Calabash or Pipe A luxuriant, rapid-growing annual climber,adaptable to all purposes for which climbingplants are used; and besides, it produces theornamental gourds from which are made theAfrican calabash pipes now so popular onaccount of their lightness, grace and meer-schaum coloring qualities. When grown forthe production of pipe gourds, the vines areusually allowed to grow ou the ground likecucumbers, pumpkins, etc., so that the fruitsin place of hanging down and growing straight,will take their natural pipe curve. Directionsfor growing, curing and how to make pipesfrom these gourds are sent with every packageof seed. Packet, 15 cents; 2 packets, 25 cents. 292 Orange or True Mock Orange A good old sort, the fruit often finding itsway into the family sewing basket.
