Description
Deutsch: Die Rochuskapelle in Zülpich ehrt den Heiligen Rochus von Montpellier,, den Schutzpatron der Pestkranken.
Sie wurde 1670 durch den Magistrat der Stadt Zülpich errichtet, nachdem von 1666 bis 1669 in Zülpich 350 Menschen an der Pest gestorben waren. Anlässlich seines Gedenktages am 16. August gelobte man jeden ersten oder zweiten August-Sonntag einen Bittgang. Auch jeden 30. April und an Fronleichnam hatte man eine Prozession zur Kapelle unternommen.
Zur Ausstattung des verputzen Bruchstein-Baus mit Tonnengewölbe gehören ein Holzaltar mit noch originalem Altartisch von 1670 und die 70 cm hohe Holzfigur des hl. Rochus.
Das 2 m große Holzkreuz an der Außenwand der Kapelle, errichtet von der KG Blaue Funken aus Zülpich, trägt eine Christus-Figur und die Inschrift „Ich bin die Auferstehung und das Leben“. (Quelle: Informationstafel an der Außenwand der Kapelle)
