Français : La Marque, en sortie de Villeneuve d'Ascq au lieu dit le Pont du Breucq (ancien pont de bois, rebâti en pierre par la commune de Flers en 1808, puis détruit durant la seconde guerre mondiale en mai 1940, reconstruit en mai 1941 et muni de nouvelles rambardes en 2001. La rivière a longtemps été à ce point polluée par les usines et communes situées en amont, et sur cette section par des usines textiles et teitureries (Descat : teinturerie et production ce matières colorantes ; puis Bayer (colorants chimiques) et Bonami Wibaux (filature). En 2017 la qualité de l'eau semble s'être améliorée avec la réapparition d'un herbier de potamot pectiné (Stuckenia pectinata, autrefois nommé "Potamogeton pectinatus"),
