Description iconographique:

La fontaine Médicis, jardin du Luxembourg, 6ème arrondissement. Fontaine dans le goût des grottes italiennes. Une balustrade entoure un bassin rectangulaire. A l'arrière-plan, la fontaine avec au centre, Polyphène s'apprêtant à écraser sous un rocher Acis et Galatée avec de part et d'autre, dans des niches, Pan et Diane. Deux pilastres encadrent la statue centrale. Au-dessus, sur les rampants du fronton (aux armes de Catherine de médicis), deux naîades couchées.
