Description
Español: La cruz que se aprecia en esta fotografía se encuentra dentro del ex convento de San Juan Bautista, a un costado del jardín interior de la Parroquia con el mismo nombre.

El diseño se atribuye a Fray Juan de la Cruz. En ese período se edificó el convento, el templo y la huerta de San Juan Bautista. La huerta es lo que ahora se conoce como el Parque de Coyoacán. Quedan en pie los arcos que daban entrada al atrio del convento.

Las obras de este lugar abarcaron 20 mil metros cuadrados, se llevaron a cabo entre 1522 y 1552. Se realizaron modificaciones al edificio en 1804, 1926 y 1947. El terreno se fue fragmentando y sólo una parte quedó como propiedad de la Delegación Coyoacán. En 1925, un año antes de que estallara la Guerra Cristera, se cerró la escuela José Rosas donde se brindaba educación católica.
