Description La ripresa dei barberi ("Catching the Berber Horses"), by Antoine Jean-Baptiste Thomas, 1816. Depicting a scene during the Carnival in Rome, at the end of the horse race along the Via Corso which ended in front of the Palazzo Venezia. Looking south, showing the Palazzetto Venezia (demolished/moved 1910) and in the background, connected to it by the Passetto, the Tower of Pope Paul III (demolished 1886). Left: Palazzo Torlonia (demolished to make way for Piazza Venezia)
